I Dare You! Book Tag

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday! A little life update, but basically I have been absolutely exhausted this past week or so with constant anxiety, and when I get like this I definitely tend to just want to take more time and watch Youtube, relax, play Animal Crossing and chill myself out. So yeah, that’s basically been my life for the past week. I am starting to try and get on track though which is nice.

I was tagged to do this post by Mary from Sophril Reads! Please anyone who feels up to doing this fun tag, defintely participate! Let’s get onto the book tag shall we?

1) What book has been on your shelves the longest?

While It Lasts – Abbi Glines

2) What is your current read, the last book you read, and your next read?

Currently I’m reading Blitzed by Alexa Martin, I just finished More Myself by Alicia Keys and hmm…. my next read will probably be Love and Luck by Jenna Evans Welch

3) What book did everyone like, but you hated?

I would have to say Milk and Honey… everyone loved this little poetry book and I just did not. Way too over-hyped book.

4) What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but probably won’t?

Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. Honestly I don’t think I’ll finish the series, even though I really want to.

5) Which book are you saving for retirement?

I think a nice re-read of Fifty Shades of Grey after I retire would be nice lol.

6) Last Page: Do you read it first or wait until the end?

Haha I am so guilty of this sometimes! Never will I do this in a Mystery/Thriller, but in all other books I may or may not do this…….

7) Acknowledgements: Are they a waste of paper and ink, or interesting?

I wouldn’t say it’s interesting so to speak, but an author deserves to write a thank you to the people who helped them publish that book.

8) Which book character would you switch places with?

Honestly, none? I mean all the books I read the characters go through some SHIT let me tell you. I’m good where I’m at haha.

9) Do you have a specific book that reminds you of something in your life?

Daisy Jones & The Six will always be the book that reminds me of my relationship with my dad. Both my dad and I are big music fans and we would always watch those VH1 shows where the explain the whole backstory on different bands. I think that definitely attributed to my love for this book a little bit as well.

10) Name a book that you acquired in a interesting way.

I have a book that my ex-bestfriend let me ‘borrow’… but before I could return it she cyber bullied me online, so she never got it back 😈

11) Have you ever given away a book for a special person?

I give books away to my younger cousin all the time to encourage her to read. She has a difficult time being able to follow along, but I think her sitting and being able to read on her own definitely helps calm herself and settles her anxiety.

12) Which book has been with you the most places?

All of my Abbi Glines books have been with me the most throughout the years. Her Sea Breeze series has definitely been around for some time now.

13) Any ‘required reading’ you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later?

The Great Gatsby is actually a really good book now that it isn’t require reading since I’m no longer in high school lol.

14) Used or Brand new?

Brand new! I love the smell of new books. Clean pages…. mmm makes me happy thinking about it.

15) Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?

Haha, is it sad I had to look up who Dan Brown is? And then realize he’s like actually super popular and that I’ve kind of been living under a rock my whole life? Hahahaaha………..

16) Have you ever seen a movie that you liked more than the book?

Hmm… I think the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before movie was 100% better than book one. I think that book was basically just meant to be written as a movie.

17) A book that’s made you hungry?

With The Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

18) Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

Definitely Lala from BooksandLala on youtube.

19) Most read authors?

Abbi Glines, Shari Lapena, J.K. Rowling and a three way tie between Christina Lauren, Stephanie Garber and Marissa Meyer.

20) Ship from two different books?

Hmmm…. I would have to say Nova from the Renegades series and Jacks from Caraval. But Nova when we first met her in the series, not towards the end. Two very evil people together. One with magic, one with powers. I mean cmon, Jacks with his kiss of death and Nova with her sleep powers????! Cmon guys. I have something here.

I tag anyone who wants to do this! Please do so!

Books I Want to Read But Dont Want to Read Tag

Hi everyone! Another book tag today and I’m really excited about it because I just love talking about my book anxiety *inserts extreme sarcasm here*… but no seriously, I’m not ashamed of sharing my list of books I’m probably never going to read… but I want to! Let’s just get right into the tag.

A Book You Feel You Need To Read Because Everyone Talks About It

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (Simonverse, #1)

Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda – Becky Albertalli

Honestly, the whole series applies to this question but mainly this first book. I bought this book about 2 years ago and I read 5 pages and had to ask myself the question: “Do I even really want to read this, or am I reading it just because everyone else has?” I then decided that I only really picked it up because of the hype and wasn’t actually interested in it.

A Book That’s Really Long

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter #5) – J.K. Rowling

UGH! I want to continue on with the series so bad but, 870 pages?! I just find it absolutely ridiculous. Just the audiobook alone is 27 hours. My god! I really want to continue on, but should I even bother? I don’t know. I am still deciding on whether I’ll take the plunge and try and finish this series.

A Book You’ve Owned/Had on Your TBR For Too Long

Love & Luck (Love & Gelato, #2)

Love & Luck (Love & Gelato #2) – Jenna Evans Welch

I really want to read this book, but I don’t want it to ruin the first book’s experience I had. I have high hopes for this series, even though I don’t see it get too much hype. I DO want to read this, I swear… it’s just taking so much strength for me to take the plunge.

A Book That Is ‘Required’ Reading

Lord of the Flies

Lord of The Flies – William Golding

Yes, technically I have in fact read this. Honestly, while read this in high school, I kind of just skimmed the book and didn’t actually really pay attention when reading it. I would love to read it again, but I have been definitely putting it off. Hopefully I can get to it this week at some point.

A Book That Intimidates You

Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1)

Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi

This book seriously intimidates the hell out of me. It’s a giant and I know there a lot of complex parts about it. I bought it so I could push myself towards reading it, but I’m still in that stage where I don’t really know if I want to read it just yet.

A Book That You Think Might Be Slow

Shadow and Bone (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy, #1)

The Shadow and Bone Trilogy – Leigh Bardugo

I’m not that big into fantasy that much anyways, so a book like this would be slow for me. I know there’s a lot of hype, a lot of people have read it… but I feel like for me it will take me a super long time to get through one of these books, let a lone a whole series.

A Book You Need To Be In The Right Mood For

Turtles All the Way Down

Turtles All The Way Down – John Green

This is a book you definitely have to be in the right mood/mind-set for. Pretty much any hard-hitting contemporary you have to be in the mood for, or at least in my opinion. A book like this where it deals with such heavy topics, you have to be in the right mood to be able to deal with all of that.

A Book You’re Unsure If You Will Like

Radio Silence

Radio Silence – Alice Oseman

I really want to read this book, and honestly all I have heard is amazing, good things. I’m nervous, but I do want to try this. Will I ever get to it though? Who knows.

I am tagging anyone who wants to go ahead and try this to go ahead and give it a shot! Tag me in your posts so I can see what some of your answers were as well!

The Ultimate Book Tag

Hey everyone! I found this book tag a few months ago and finally decided to go ahead and do it! It took me awhile, but it was really fun and I’m glad I did it. I invite anyone who decides to take it on to do it!

(1) Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Yes I do. I don’t know how to stop it or why it honestly even happens, but every time I attempt to read in the car I just end up making myself sick.

(2) Which authors writing style is completely unique to you?

I feel like Shari Lapena has a really distinct way of writing for me. I bet if you read me a random paragraph from a mystery novel, I could probably be able to tell whether Lapena wrote it or not.

(3) Harry Potter or Twilight? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

Harry Potter by far

1. More interesting characters

2. Better storyline

3. Creative writing

(4) Do you carry a book bag around with you? If so, what is in it (besides books…)?

Image result for disney parks loungefly backpack

I actually use a Disney Loungefly mini backpack, so if that counts then yes I do use a backpack. I love these bags better than purses, although sometime in the near future I will be buying myself a Michael Kors bag just too really treat myself. I carry a small hairbrush, my wallet, lip balm, car keys, headphones and a notebook around with me.

(5) Do you smell your books?

Absolutely. There is nothing better than the smell of a new book.

(6) Books with or without little illustrations?

With! I love little illustrations, and there is definitely not enough of them out there. Always will encourage more creativity.

(7) What book did you love while reading but, discovered later on it wasn’t quality writing?

I would have to say Almost Impossible by Nicole Williams. While I did love that book last year, thinking back the writing is definitely not all that great.

(8) Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood?

I don’t remember many things from my childhood, but when my cousin was born, I was around 6 years old and I became obsessed with reading to her! I would always go right over to her house after school and sit and read to her for hours. Always Disney Princess books of course.

(9) Thinnest book on your shelf?

Milk and Honey

I believe Milk and Honey is actually the thinnest book on my shelf currently with 204 pages.

(10) Thickest?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – 870 pages

(11) Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself being an author in the future?

I see myself trying to write a book, and I have many ideas for books. I hope in the near future I’ll gain the courage and finally go through with it.

(12)When did you get into reading?

I’ve been into reading all my life, but got seriously back into it in March of 2018.

(13) Favorite classic book?

Image result for alice in wonderland book

Alice in Wonderland is probably my favorite right now. But I do also really enjoy the Great Gatsby.

(14) In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?

English was easily my best by far. Without a doubt.

(15) If you were given a book as a present that you read before and hated… what would you do?

I don’t care what book it was, I don’t care who gave it to me… I will open it and be happy no matter what IDC. I was raised to always appreciate every gift I have ever gotten and I hate when people are not appreciative of what they receive.

(16) What is a lesser known series that is similar to Harry Potter/Hunger Games?

I don’t even have an answer for this one. I think they both are just so original in their own way.

(17) Favorite word?

Yeshhh – Michael Scott, The Office

(18) Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb

Well, my mom and dad both call me a dork all the time so let’s go with that lol.

(19) Vampires or Fairies?

Fairies. I hate blood. Fun Fact about me, I really can’t stand the sight of other people’s blood nor talk about it.

(20) Shapeshifters or Angels?

Shapeshifters because hell yeah.

(21) Spirits or Werewolves?

Spirits. So many possible backstories.

(22) Zombies or Vampires?

This is the worst question of all time for me. I hate blood, so vampires aren’t my thing but zombies? I hate everything zombie related. Like watching zombie movies give me nightmares for at least the next week after. I am going to have to say vampires, even though it honestly pains me to say that.

(23) Love triangle or Forbidden love?

Forbidden love!! Love triangles are way too over done.

(24) Full on romance books or action packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

Full on romance. It’s my weakness.

The Book Blogger Memory Challenge Tag

Hi everyone! I found this little challenge over on Book Loving Nut’s page and decided to give it a go! I have no idea whether I will be able to do this since I can’t seem to remember a lot of things, but we might as well give it a go!

Name a book written by an author named Michael

Oh god I can’t even think of any. I looked on my TBR and don’t even have any. So this is a great start.

Name a book with a dragon on the cover

The Priory of the Orange Tree

HA! I actually got one. No I have not read this, but I feel like if I ever did it would be an unbelievable accomplishment.

Name a book about a character named George

Curious George

Well… that was easy. Lol.

Name a book by an author with the last name Smith

The Awakening (The Vampire Diaries, #1)

The Vampire Diaries! I’ve never read this series, but I did know the last name was Smith.

Name a book set in Australia

Honestly I can’t think of any for this one either. I really need to start reading books that are set in other countries.

Name a book with the name of a month in the title

One Day in December

I immediately thought of this one. I don’t know why, because all I know about this book is that it is a romance and was a Book Of The Month pick.

Name a book with a knife on the cover

My Lovely Wife

I actually have read this book and I really enjoyed it! Definitely one of the most interesting thrillers I have ever read.

Name a book with the word ‘one’ in the title

Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1)

This is one of the books I hope on getting to in 2020. I have had it on my TBR for over a year now and would really like to cross it off.

Name a book with an eponymous title

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

I think a pretty famous choice. A book titled Harry Potter and about Harry Potter.

Name a book that was turned into a movie

The Help

This was a fairly easy question as I know of many books that have been turned into movies, but this one is definitely one of my most memorable book to movie known adaptations. My aunt bought this book for me when I was 14 and I’ve had it ever since. I’m hoping to pick this up sometime in the Spring.

I hope anyone feels free to try this challenge. I’ll admit it wasn’t easy, and I really had to think hard about what my possible choices could be. How well did you think I did guys?

The Book Snob Tag

1.) Adaptation Snob: Do you always read the book before you see the movie?

Nooooo, oh my god no. See, I have friends, and those friends don’t read books and just want to maybe go see cute romance-y movies, which sometimes happen to be books first. I’ve done it, and I have no shame in it guys.

Examples: A Simple Favor, Alita: Battle Angel, Everything, Everything, After

2.) Format Snob: You can only choose 1 format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical, ebooks, or audiobooks?

Image result for reading cute

Hello, physical! Physical forever and always. What am I going to do during a zombie apocalypse?! Have a non-working iPad to read books? No thanks.

3.) Ship Snob: Would you date or marry a non-reader?

I am currently right now, so that’s a very easy answer for me.

Here’s the thing: If a person doesn’t read, that doesn’t mean it won’t work out. Honestly, I don’t mind that he doesn’t read…. He listens. He will gladly listen to me be pissed off over a book, sad over a book. Ladies and Gents, as long as you’re partner LISTENS to you, you’re good.

4.) Genre Snob: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

Image result for stephen king movie gifs

GOOD-BYE HORROR! And gee, while you’re leaving my life for good, take all your movies with you!

5.) Uber Genre Snob: You can only choose to read form one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?

MAN, This is tough! I don’t know! I guess I would have to say contemporary? I guess? It’s a pretty large genre so yeah, contemporary!

6.) Community Snob: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

Image result for to all the boys ive loved before gifs

Romance for sure! Do you guys even understand how much shit I get for liking Fifty Shades of Grey?

I feel like Romance books get such a bad wrap because honestly, in this day in age, people feel like every book should be giving them something. A lesson, a deeper meaning… Romance doesn’t usually deliver on that. It’s intended purpose I believe is to be fun, to make you feel romantic, to make you FEEL something. Fifty Shades of Grey never promised anyone to take anything away from it, just enjoy yourself reading it!

Geez… I might do a whole rant post on this because I just can’t!

7.) Snobbery Recipitent: Have you ever been snubbed for something that you have been reading or for reading in general?

Image result for bookish gifs

YES! My parents, my brother, my boyfriend, my best friend have all said some b*llsh*t over me reading. They aren’t readers and think I am ‘stuck in a fantasy world’. I don’t take it to heart, I like reading and they don’t, so it’s fine. Really I’m the only one in my family who reads, and the only other person that did was my great-grandfather, and he passed away even before I was born. My grandmother has always told me I’m just like him, with my head always stuck in a book.

The Identity Crisis Book Tag

Hey everyone! I actually saw this post over on Jenna’s blog, Bookmark Your Thoughts. I started to see all of the quizzes she did and I immediately got excited. I used to take quizzes online like this all of the time and once I saw this tag I knew I had to participate. This tag was created by Loretta @ The Laughing Listener, so if you do want to do this tag for yourselves definitely tag her so she can see your answers! Let’s get right into it shall we?

Red Queen

Image result for the red queen series

Who Am I?: Farley

There’s no other character that we would more willingly follow into battle than Farley. Or follow her anywhere really! She’s a natural-born leader and doesn’t let anyone or anything hold her back! Congrats, with that take-charge attitude you’ll be running the world some day! Rise, Red as the Dawn!

Haven’t read this series… but I know this is not my character! Definitely not me at all.

Who Am I?: Emma Carstairs & Jessamine Lovelace

“You have a reputation for being proud and vain, but there’s nothing wrong with that! You can put your money where your mouth is, and your ambition coupled with your determination, passion, and skill makes you a force to be reckoned with.

Again, haven’t read this series I agree with the characters after looking them up lol.

Hunger Games

Who Am I?: Katniss Everdeen!

Oh hell yeah! Let’s go. Ya know what’s actually funny… I really am good with a bow and arrow soooo.. it was meant to be.

Harry Potter

Who Am I?: Fred Weasley

“You’re the life of the party! You never take things too seriously and can diffuse tense situations with your sense of humor. You might not be top of your class, but your creativity and wit are the reasons for your success.”

To see that I’m not Hermoine basically kills me on the inside okay? Let’s not discuss this any further.

A Court of Thorns And Roses

Who Am I?: Azriel

Dark, mysterious, and brooding, the shadows are at your beck and call. No one truly knows you, and that’s the way you like it. Because the real Azriel, the one behind the shadows and the spies, is simply a boy who feels unworthy of everything he has been given, especially the love and devotion of his friends and a certain blond High Fae.”

Ehh….. nah not me lol.

The Raven Cycle

Image result for the raven cycle books

Who Am I?: Adam Parrish

“You’ve had a rough life, and are determined to make it better on your own terms. You are driven by your own free will, and sometimes lose sight of the big picture with your fixation on change. However, you are one of the strongest people ever, and no matter what the change brings, you will endure.”

This quiz just had weird ass questions. I kind of picked random answers for this one because the questions were just so weird…

Image result for the twilight books

Who Am I?: Victoria

Image result for victoria from twilight fanart

“Yeah, no one better cross you. Mess with you and it’s a death sentence. You’re not one to play games and are willing to do whatever it takes to reach your goals — no matter how bloody it can get. But life doesn’t always have to be filled with hate! Just blood. Lots of blood.

I hate blood soooo… no. haha

The Cruel Prince

Image result for the cruel prince series

Who Am I?: Cardan

“People naturally gravitate towards you. Although you may seem ambivalent on the outside, we know you care deep down. Deep, deep, deep, deep, deep down.”

Yikes. LMAO! Way to tell me I’m a horrible person guys.

The Lunar Chronicles

Image result for the lunar chronicles series

Who Am I?: Scarlet

“Scarlet lives on a farm in France with her grandmother. She has curly red hair and lots of freckles and is mostly seen wearing jeans and a red sweatshirt. She is frank and abrupt, with a tendency to act first and think later. She is cautious of newcomers and takes a while to warm up to them and trust them.”

I mean… kinda? Okay the more I think definitely because everyone knows me to be pretty frank with people. *shrugs*
