The Disney Book Tag | Blogmas 2019

Hi everyone! In celebration of being a few weeks away from heading to Disney World, I am going to be doing this tag for you guys that was originally created by Kat from Katytastic on Youtube!

Anyone of my friends, family members, acquaintances could tell you that I am a HUGE Disney fanatic. It’s in my bio on both twitter and instagram, and honestly, I feel like I don’t really spread the magic of Disney here on my blog too much. I saw this tag and just KNEW, I had to do it. Let’s dive right into it shall we?

The Little Mermaid – A Character Who Feels Like A Fish Out of Water

Eliza and Her Monsters

For this, I would have to say Eliza from Eliza and Her Monsters. Eliza definitely doesn’t feel like she fits in all of the time and wants to join her own little world, the world away from the real world… the one that she created online. This book was a 5/5 for me, and Eliza is an amazing character.

Cinderella – A Character That Goes Through A Major Transformation

Image result for nova from renegades fanart

I would definitely pick Nova from the Renegades series for this. In this case, Nova starts off as a villain, or as it’s called in the book, an Anarchist. To be able to help her team of villains take down the “hero’s”, she has to become a Renegade, what the ‘good guys’ call themselves. She is so against them, yet has to become one of them. Both Renegades and Anarchists see totally different perspectives on everything, so it is definitely a big change for her.

Snow White- A Book With An Eclectic Cast

Sheets

Okay, this was tough for me to kind of find a book for this BUT I found one, and that book is Sheets by Brenna Thummler. This book follows a ghost living within this town of ghosts. Everyone in this town has come from previous lives and they have all died, yet all have come together to live in this ‘ghost world’. I really hope she makes like a prequel book or something diving into this world a lot more because it was just truly amazing to see this in graphic novel form.

Sleeping Beauty – A Book That Put You To Sleep

Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel

I hate having to say this but… Hocus Pocus and The All-New Sequel by A.W. Jantha. It just wasn’t for me guys.. I’m sorry lol.

The Lion King – A Character Who Had A Traumatic Childhood

Fangirl

I would have to say Cath and Wren from Fangirl are definitely a match for this question. Their mother left them when they were little for reasons unknown really, had another family and then were left to deal with their crazy, highly unstable father.

Beauty and the Beast – An Intimidating Read

My Lovely Wife

Definitely a book that really intimidated the crap out of me. It scared me, frightened me… it was just overall really crazy… but awesome! My Lovely Wife, totally would recommend it for the people that love good thrillers.

Aladdin – A Character That Gets Their Wish Granted

Undead Girl Gang

Not this was necessarily a wish, more of a summoning of a dead loved one… but either way in Undead Girl Gang, it was still granted.

Mulan – A Character Who Pretends To Be Someone Their Not

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

For this I’m going to go with Evelyn Hugo, just based off of how much pretending she does in her marriages. She get’s married to all these people just to save face, but yet won’t be with the person she seriously loves.

Toy Story – Characters I Want To Come To Life

Image result for caraval fanart

*waves to everyone from Caraval*

Disney Descendants – Favorite Villains

Image result for evil queen fan art

Well, my favorite Villain is Maleficent, but if I have to pick a villain from a book, it would have the be the Queen from Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen by Serena Valentino. One of my favorite books all based on a re-telling of one of my favorite Disney stories.

Bookish Naughty or Nice List | Blogmas 2019

Hello everyone! How is everyone’s blogmas going so far? I saw this post over on Jenniely’s page and couldn’t wait to add it to my Blogmas post schedule. She did blogmas last year and it really persuaded me to do it this year, and I gotta say, it hasn’t been all that difficult like I thought it would be.

Let’s get right to the post to see how terrible I’ve been with my books shall we?

(1) Recieved an Arc and not reviewed it ✔️

I absolutely have done this… and definitely more than once.

(2) Have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley ✔️

Oh god, mines at like 32%, I’m nowhere near 60.

(3) Rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review to come on your blog (and never did) ✔️

Yes… that Shari Lapena book I read back in April is still on my list of to-do’s.

(4) Folded down the page of a book ✔️

Yes I have and I hate doing it, but in an emergency, I might have to dog-ear every once in a while.

(5) Accidentally spilled on a book

Wow, actually one that I didn’t have to use the checkmark on but nope, because I am very good at keeping food away from my books.

(6) DNF a book this year ✔️

Not just a book, but MANY books.

(7) Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it ✔️

(10) Completely missed your Goodreads goal

I’ve been good about it the last two years I’ve been on goodreads.

(11) Borrowed a book and not returned it ✔️

I mean… yeah. Yes, I’ve done this lmao.

(12) Broke a book buying ban ✔️

As soon as that paycheck comes in, you guys know where I’m heading.

(13) Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about ✔️

HA, YES! Hence why I take book notes now. So sad I never got to review Everything, Everything because of this.

(14) Wrote in a book you were reading ✔️

I tried to see if I would like it, and I do not.

Book Tag: The Secret Life of a Book Blogger

Hi guys! I found this tag over on Sofii’s blog and really wanted to do it for myself! I loved the questions and I really have a soft spot for these kind of tags. I enjoy sharing some things about myself because book blogging is a serious part of my life now and sharing my experiences with others and my joy for blogging I hope inspires at least one person to either pick up a book or even start a blog! With that being said, let’s get right to the post!

How long have you been blogging?

Image result for book blogging picture

Right now? 11 months. I started blogging January 1, 2019. I did have another blog that I created in May of 2018, but I decided to create a new platform and new focus. Couldn’t be happier with the switch.

At what point do you think you’ll stop blogging?

Oh god, never? I mean sure I might take breaks here and there… but honestly probably not. I schedule everything out a month ahead, and I’m pretty good about it. I love blogging, it gives me a voice and platform to talk about something that is a really good and healthy habit.

What is the best thing about blogging?

Image result for happy reading girl

I think for me it’s the fact I have a really healthy hobby that I love. This is such a positive topic to be blogging about and with all the negative things that are currently floating around on the internet, I know there will always be my blog. A happy, light-hearted, bookish place.

What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

The pressure to read can be… difficult. It’s simple for a book blogger… if you don’t read, there’s no review, so there’s no post. There are months where I only read a book or two and I just kind of have to… come up with something lol. So just the pressure to read can be frustrating, but I just accept it for what it is.

How long does it take you to make/find pictures to use?

I’m really trying to dive into the world of Bookstagram, but it’s HARD. Finding props for me is like pulling teeth so taking bookish pictures takes me a long time. Find pictures on the internet? Easy-ish. You’d be surprised how difficult it is to find simple google images of book covers for reviews that are in HD.

Who is your book crush?

Image result for jacks from caraval

This is a tough one. I think if I had to only pick one… Jacks from Caraval. Even if he is the villain haha.

What author would you like to have on your blog?

Image result for stephanie garber

It’s a tie between Stephanie Garber and Shari Lapena. Definitely would pick Stephanie Garber just for the sake of this post, but Shari is you ever wanna visit Tea and Turned Pages, I’m up for it 🙂

How long does it take you to prepare?

To write a blog post? Probably 20-30 mins? I’m a very quick typer and I just take everything that I’m thinking in my head and just type. Total preparedness time though? Between re-writing the book notes, the review, preparing my book binder after I read a book and filling out all of my book trackers?? Probably anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.

How do you feel about the blogging community?

I love the community! If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be so willing to be apart of it!

What do you think one should do to create a successful blog?

Two word’s guys… BE YOURSELF.

Halloween Book Tag

Hi everyone! As we near Halloween I really wanted to do a Halloween book tag for you all! I found this one that was circling around in 2015, and I liked the questions enough to bring it back into the light. Thanks Michelle for creating this tag! Let’s jump right in to it!

(1) Favorite Scary Must-Read for Halloween?

Image result for wilder girls book

I don’t read many scary books honestly so this was a tough question… I guess the one scary book I read that I would recommend people try would be Wilder Girls by Rory Power. It definitely freaked me out while reading and if you like horror, definitely try this one out.

(2) Scariest Book Cover

Image result for scary stories to tell in the dark book

Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark by Alvin Schwartz has one of the scariest covers I have ever seen… and the most messed up part about it??? It’s a children’s book series…. like what??

(3) If you could go Trick-Or-Treating with any author, who would you go with?

Image result for shari lapena

I feel like it only makes sense to take my favorite mystery/thriller authors out trick-or-treating with me. I would ask her all sorts of questions about where she gets the ideas for her stories, her writing techniques, all while collecting candy. Sounds like a fun night in my eyes.

(4) If you could dress up as any bookish character for Halloween, who would you be?

Image result for scarlett from caraval

Scarlet from Caraval is who I would pick! With her mood changing dress, and her sense of style, I would love to dress up as her for Halloween.

(5) If you could find anything (from any book) in your trick-or-treat stash, what would you hope it would be?

Image result for magic cloak harry potter

Of course, I would love to have Harry Potter’s cloak dropped into my treat bag. Because simply.. who wouldn’t??

(6) In what fictional world would you like to go trick-or-treating?

Image result for caraval fan art

I’m definitely going to want to Trick-or-Treat in Caraval! Collect candy while also meeting a couple of people who could either trick me, or treat me.

(7) What book villain would you like to not meet in a dark alley on Halloween?

Image result for coraline mother as a spider

The mother from Coraline! Oh my god I’m absolutely terrified of her! I mean look at her! Who would want to meet her in a dark alley on Halloween? Literally no one!

(8) Would You Rather Dress Up As A Vampire, Zombie, Werewolf, or Shadowhunter?

Related image

Honestly this is a tough question. I don’t like blood, so no vampire, definitely not a zombie, and I’ve never read the shadowhunter series so I guess we’re going with werewolf!

(9) Pick a candy from Harry Potter that you would love to find in your stash?

Image result for chocolate frog

Helllooooo, chocolate frog all the way! I can’t wait to get one when I finally visit Harry Potter world.

(10) What is your favorite Halloween candy?

Image result for reeses cup

My favorite candy in general of course, but when I get these in my Halloween bag, mmmm yes!

The Autumn Tag!

Hi everyone! I saw this tag on one of my favorite book bloggers pages, Jenniely, and knew that I HAD to do it! I’m so in the mood for sweaters, colder weather, leaves and the beautiful colors!

Let’s get onto the tag! I also invite anyone who wants to do this tag with me.

(1) Hot Chocolate – What is your comfort book?

I would definitely say my comfort book would have to be Legendary by Stephanie Garber, the second book in the caraval series. It’s one of my favorites and definitely a comfort book I would reach for again in the fall.

(2) Pumpkin Carving – What is your favorite creative outlet?

Image result for fall cross stitch

Although I do love my blog, designing it and working within my reading binder, I have recently gotten into cross stitching and I’m in love with it. My younger cousin taught me how to do it, since she’s honestly so crafty with everything she touches, and come to find out… I actually caught on pretty quickly! Who would’ve thought lol.

(3) Falling Leaves – Changes that appear bad but you secretly love?

Image result for autumn pictures

This one is a tough question… and I really don’t know how to answer it other than saying the change from summer to fall itself? I love the idea of summer in the beginning but oh my god, by August I’m ready for fall. Fall means better colors, better weather (in my opinion) and a new reading mood.

(4) Pumpkin Spiced Latte – Something you love that others tend to judge

Image result for autumn reading

Reading! You have no idea how much I get judged for loving books so much. My boyfriend definitely thinks I’m 100% off my rocker for enjoying it this much, no one in my family really reads except for my aunt, but we read completely different genres. I mean, she’s big into like memoirs and biographies, when in reality I couldn’t be further from that!

(5) Bonfire Night – What makes you explode with joy?

Image result for bonfire fall

Honestly, I may sound cheesy but spending time with family during these times makes me so happy. This time of year all I want to do is cuddle up with good books and be near family. Thanksgiving/Christmas time is always the best for that.

(6) Fright Night – Favorite scary book or film

Image result for paranormal activity movies

Since I don’t really enjoy a lot of ‘scary’ books, I have watched a fair amount of scary films though. I think my favorite over the years has been the Paranormal Activity series. Honestly, I don’t do gore or massive amounts of blood or just like super extra creepy things, so this set of movies was perfect for me.

(7) Halloween Candy – Favorite thing to eat

Image result for reeses halloween candy

Reese’s. All day everyday of course.

(8) Scarves – Your Autumn must have accessory

Image result for cozy sweaters

Comfy sweaters! Always need to have one on me. I get cold easily and they are super cute around this time!

(9) Fire – A book or film that burns your soul

Image result for caraval series

Ugh. Yesssss! You guys are my passion haha!

(10) Toffee apples – a book or film that seems one thing but really has a different inside

Image result for house of salt and sorrows

The book I’m picking for this is House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig. I definitely thought this book was one thing… but boy did it turn into something totally different!

OMG! That Song Book Tag

Hi everyone! I know I haven’t been doing a lot of tags lately and I’m sorry for that but I saw this one and knew it would be perfect for me to do. I love music, it’s always been a passion of mine and it’s always been really near and dear to my heart. I grew up in a family that has a genuine love for music. The history of it, the genres… I’ve always been able to connect with my family members the most through music. Music and books are two things I love the most, but I actually never put the two together. I can’t listen to music while reading, and I can’t really read anything while listening to music. Sooo.. when I found this book tag, I found it would be a perfect way to mix the two happily together!

My Jam: A song you have to listen to no matter how many times you’ve heard it and a book that you’ll never get sick of.

Honestly? If I had to pick a song right now that I could probably listen to over and over again and never get sick of it… I’d have to pick I Believe by The Jonas Brothers. Hear me out on this one… look past the fact it’s the Jonas Brothers and listen to this song. I think it’s beautiful, it makes me feel good and could totally listen to it again and again. I’m always in the mood to listen to this.

Image result for while it lasts abbi glines

For the book, it was pretty easy to pick this one. A book I’ll never get sick of is While It Lasts by Abbi Glines. It is easily one of my favorites of all time and I’ll never not want to eventually get around to reading it again and again.

Throwback: a song that reminds you of the cringeiest time in your life and a book you read that you would wouldn’t like if you read it now.

Poker Face by Lady Gaga... cringiest song of my early middle school days lol.

Image result for poker face gif

Hmmm… this is a tough one to think about. The only book that comes to mind for this one is the Maximum Ride graphic novel series… I just have a good feeling I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as I once did.

Replay: A recent song that you have on repeat and a recent favorite book.

Me, Myself & I by Beyonce is my current obsession. I know, kind of late to join the party but oh my god… I really love this song!

Image result for renegades marissa meyer

Renegades by Marissa Meyer is one of my new favorites! I can’t wait to continue on with the series.

Gets me: a song that is literally me and a book that is me in book form.

Juice by Lizzo is me… it is my anthem.

Image result for juice lizzo gif

Eliza and Her Monsters is definitely a book that speaks to me. Social Anxiety rep and a lot of nerd rep.

WUT: A weird song that you liked anyways and a unique book that stuck out to you for some reason…

For the song choice I’d have to go with a song that isn’t actually a real song. My pick is very specific only a few people know it. It’s the song that Jan plays for the Dinner Party she has at her house that her ex-assistant Hunter wrote for her from the show The Office. So creepy but it get’s stuck in my head all the time.

Image result for jan dancing at the dinner party the office

Caraval is one of the most unique books I’ve ever read… but one of my favorites of all time.

Let’s Go: Pick your best pump up song and a book that inspires you…

Still D.R.E by Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg always gets me pumped up. That simple piano going on in the background with that nice bass… it will always pump me up.

Image result for everything, everything

Everything, Everything will forever be the book that inspires me. It’s the book that made me want to start book blogging and honestly just start to love reading again. I love it. It got me out of a dark place and really inspires me to just keep going for my goals and defy what people think I deserve rather than what I know I deserve.

Chill: Your best chill or relaxing song and a book you’d curl up with on a rainy day…

My song pick for this one would be R.E.M. by Ariana Grande. This song is written and named for the intent to get you relaxed. Try it out next time your feeling stressed.

Image result for r.e.m. ariana grande

Honestly I don’t have a specific book for this.. I guess maybe a psychological messed up mystery/thriller type book.

Addicting: A guilty pleasure song and a light, trashy read you can’t help but love…

My guilty pleasure song has to be Rocket by Beyonce. Listen to it and you’ll find out why lol.

Image result for 50 shades of gray book

I wouldn’t say this is exactly light… but it’s trashy af and I love it. Unpopular opinion, but I love it okay?

Nostalgia: A throwback song you look back on fondly and a book you read and loved when you were young…

It’s really hard to pick this song because I love so many good throwback songs… but I think Happy by Ashanti honestly is just coming to mind and it’s a very good example of a throwback for me.

Image result for edward tulane

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane will always be one of my childhood favorites. I’d honestly read it again to this day it’s that good.
