Coming Back…

Hi everyone! Happy Halloween!!

I know, it’s been a little while. I don’t even know how long it has been but it has definitely been awhile.. and well. It was honestly the most well-deserved break I have ever taken.

I had posted back in July that I was coming back (?), but I realized after posting the post that just wasn’t true… I was far from ready. I stopped reading, I stopped doing everything that was bringing me joy from before. I was missing deadlines, work was stressful trying to adjust to home life, and I was in an extremely toxic and violent relationship.

I think I needed the time to realize I was in something I shouldn’t have been in, and doing things I shouldn’t have been doing. I was doubting myself and doubting my abilities to succeed.

Now that I feel confident enough to start blogging, things will be a lot different here on Tea and Turned Pages. First, this blog won’t be just about books. I’m honestly still a little hesitant on reading, so I will be posting about some things I’ve been doing and focusing on during my mental health journey, Disney posts (of course!), and just anything that comes to mind while I get back into the process of reading.

For now I won’t be doing my typical Top Ten Tuesday’s or WWW Wednesday’s, and I will most likely only be posting 2-3 times a week, not the 5 times I was originally doing (which looking back was absolutely insane to do for that time in my life), and hopefully over time we can bump it to 3-4 times, but that will be in the future.

I am happy to be coming back, and happy to hopefully see a big change in my mood and how the blog will help me advance in my life.

Can’t wait to talk to you all soon!

Lots of Love, Ali

What I’ve Been Loving Lately

Hi everyone! So as all of you pretty much know by now, I was on a very much needed 2 month vacation from the blog. I had been really worn out since January after going a full year without a single break, and finally in May I decided that needed to change. I thought it may only be for a few weeks, but that eventually turned into 2 months. A lot happened during this time, and if you missed that post where I pretty much explain everything I’ll link it here.

Just because I have been gone for a little while doesn’t mean I’ve been living under a rock. I’ve been enjoying other things, searching for things that I like, it just happened to be nothing book related. So I decided to share with you today what has really been keeping me grounded and happy during my little break. Let’s get right into it!

My Philosophy Skin Care Routine

I have been in love with my skin care routine lately. Wearing masks constantly when going out can really mess with your skin, especially in these hot summer months. I’ve been using the Philosophy Purity facial cleanser and also the eye cream and moisturizer. Absolutely life changing.

Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated Game

Buy SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated ...

This game is a life saver. I actually used to play this game on PS2 when it came out in like 2003 and ugh! I loved it! It was such a big part of my childhood, and it just was released again for the newer systems. I got this on my Nintendo Switch and I love it! It’s been a really great game for me and my brother to play together, and we get a lot of laughs out of it.

The Seven Deadly Sins (Netflix)

Seven Deadly Sins is the Anime You Didn't Know You Wanted to Watch

Ahhhhh! I discovered this show while I was on my little break, and I am in love!!! I am not a anime watcher what so ever, I mean seriously. I don’t watch anime at all… but this?? This is too good not to watch. It’s an amazing show, and I even am buying the manga slowly book by book to start reading this month. Diane is even currently my iPhone background. I love this show and I can’t wait for season 4 in October.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends - The Next Evolution of Battle Royale - Free on PS4 ...

I am in love with Apex Legends. It’s one of the best battle royale games out there, and I am just obsessed. I play on PS4 with some of my greatest friends I’ve met over the months I’ve been online nonstop. Would highly recommend if you’re looking to move on from Fortnite.

I’ve been obsessed with this show lately. I love Gordon Ramsey, and this show is a binge watcher for me.

Where I’ve Been + My Plan for Coming Back and the Changes That Are Being Made

Hi everyone! Wow.. it’s kind of surreal writing this post honestly. A few months ago, if you asked me if I’d be coming back, I would most likely tell you no. Thankfully, I’m very happy to announce that I am indeed coming back. I think the last thing I did was a book review on Mothers Day? After that, it went downhill pretty fast.

To be technical, I’ve been gone since March 30th. It just happened to work out that I had posts scheduled until Mothers Day. In April I really struggled with everything going around me, and didn’t even post regularly in March/April. I realized a few things with myself and could see a change, so I wanted to be open with you guys about what’s been going on.

First, Corona really got to me. It unfortunately infected my great-grandmother, who after 5 weeks is still battling it, which is insane to me. It thankfully didn’t reach my grandmother who is in a nursing home, but we are still crossing our fingers that it never reaches her. Honestly, not seeing family on a regular basis for me has been difficult. Going to my grandparents house every weekend was a consistent thing for me. To go suddenly to not seeing them? It definitely put me in a negative head space.

Second, the want to read was just not there. Through all of this, being home, you’d think I would want to read! But honestly, it just wasn’t there for me. Between Coronavirus, the riots, working from home, not seeing family… reading was the last idea in my mind to make myself feel better.

Finally, I went through a really nasty break-up during all of this. I won’t go too much into detail out of respect, but it definitely was the final straw in my decision to take a break from the blog. It pushed me to my limit, and deteriorated my mental health. My mentality was at such a low, typing was not an option. Reading wasn’t an option. Talking about Disney wasn’t even close to being an option.

But…. I AM COMING BACK JULY 1st! I’ll be doing my normal Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday schedule. I am so happy and excited to be coming back to something I love so much! But, there will be a few changes to the blog as well.

The first change I am making is I am adding another segment to the blog, which is my Plan with Me sections. I have loved planning for a long time, and I really love being able to show off my Planner and what I’ve done for the week. Every Thursday I will be writing a short post about my current week planner, what stickers I used, and also showing the final product of the previous week. These will be short posts, but something different and fun that I will love to do.

Finally, I will be leaving links at the bottom of all of my posts to donate to organizations, sign petitions and so forth to spread the awareness for the Black Lives Matter cause. I want to keep up with the momentum and the continuation of spreading awareness of this issue in the United States, and if I can try and help even in the littlest sense by sharing links at the end of every post? I can easily do that.

Well, I appreciate all of you reading through this. I love every single one of you who have supported me through this and welcomed me back with open arms. We are all in this together guys! See you July 1st!

Audiobooks That Are Too Good To Ignore

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Today I wanted to go through a list of books I think that are way better consumed as audiobooks. Now, I know there are sadly still people out there who believe audiobook’s aren’t actually people reading books, and those people I say leave this post alone! Leave those of us who love audiobooks alone!

Anyways, let’s dive into the list of books that in my opinion are much more enjoyable as audiobooks.
