Harry Potter’s third year at Hogwarts is full of new dangers. A convicted murderer, Sirius Black, has broken out of Azkaban prison, and it seems he’s after Harry. Now Hogwarts is being patrolled by the dementors, the Azkaban guards who are hunting Sirius. But Harry can’t imagine that Sirius or, for that matter, the evil Lord Voldemort could be more frightening than the dementors themselves, who have the terrible power to fill anyone they come across with aching loneliness and despair. Meanwhile, life continues as usual at Hogwarts. A top-of-the-line broom takes Harry’s success at Quidditch, the sport of the Wizarding world, to new heights. A cute fourth-year student catches his eye. And he becomes close with the new Defense of the Dark Arts teacher, who was a childhood friend of his father. Yet despite the relative safety of life at Hogwarts and the best efforts of the dementors, the threat of Sirius Black grows ever closer. But if Harry has learned anything from his education in wizardry, it is that things are often not what they seem. Tragic revelations, heartwarming surprises, and high-stakes magical adventures await the boy wizard in this funny and poignant third installment of the beloved series.

I think what I enjoyed most about this book was learning more about Harry’s past and his family history. I always kind of knew there had to be more to his family than just the Dursley’s like seriously, they are awful. I was happy to find out Sirius was Harry’s godfather, after of course finding out he was one of the good guys. I hope Sirius shows up more and more in the future books because I would just love to see just how great of a godfather he can truly be to Harry. He really needs a strong parental figure in his life.

Of course, like all the other books so far, the writing is fantastic. It is so easy to read, so easy to understand. It isn’t as complicated as I thought it might be all these years, so I am definitely very happy about that.

Not too many things I disliked, the only thing honestly was the whole map thing. I have to say, the movie explains it so much better! Now that I’ve seen the movie, I understand it better and it’s way cooler than I initially thought it was.

Okay, so I have to be honest. This was the worst one I have seen in the movie series so far, which is so sad! I mean, I loved the book, but the movie did it zero justice. Did I miss the big Quidditch cup orrrr was it in there but it’s not in the version I watched? I don’t know. I also was super disappointed with how Sirius looked. I kind of wanted him to have a more Hagrid-y look. Just not so giant-y.

What did you guys think of book 3? What about the movie?

A Gift Givers Guide for Harry Potter Lovers

Good morning and hope everyone is having a lovely Tuesday. I was really excited to write this one because, I know and I know a lot of other people know, how difficult it can be to find the perfect gift for someone. Maybe it’s a friend, family member, your boss, anyone who you need to buy a gift for, and possibly the only thing you really know about this person is that they love Harry Potter (which a lot of people do). Instead of purchasing the Harry Potter series for someone, which the probably already have, here are a few ideas to help you find the perfect gift for the Harry Potter lover in your life.

Dobby Socks – $7.99

I think this is such an adorable idea! (and a really cheap gift idea) I actually really want this pair of socks from Amazon. Like of course, these had to be made. I was so happy when Harry tricked Malfoy into giving Dobby the sock through the journal, so of course I should get socks for this.

The Sorting Candle – $14.50

I found this over on etsy.com and BelleVieCandle is the shop owner. She has a lot of other cute items, but this is really a cute idea. If you know the house the person your giving a gift to, you can order that house color, but there is also a sort me option. This option the candle will burn and then show you your Hogwarts house. Really creative idea, and something your typical Harry Potter fan might not have.

Golden Snitch Keychain – $8.50

Another kind of simple one, on the cheaper side but man oh man, I really want this for my purse. How cool would it be to have a golden snitch on your bookbag/purse? Come on.

Morphing Mugs – $19.99

This was actually a really cool find! When cold/room tempature the mug is black, when it’s warm, the mug has a couple of images of Harry Potter and quotes, a little rustic looking. I love the look of it and I’ve never had a mug that changes color when the temperature changes, so I would definitely get this for myself or any of my Harry Potter loving fans.

Hogwarts Wizard Chess Set – $45

Although a little bit more pricey, I thought this was a nice little set and closely looking at it, it really looks like the exact set that was played during the first movie and beyond. Something really nice to either play or honestly, just have on display in a Harry Potter loving home

Well I hope you all enjoy’d some really cute gift ideas. I wanted to pick some gifts that may not be as easy to find at like Walmart or Barnes & Noble type of stores, since those things are a little bit too mainstream.

What would you love to be gifted as Harry Potter lovers yourself?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling Book Review

Happy Sunday everyone, I am finally back to posting now! Yay! Back to Harry Potter month! So as we continue on with Harry Potter month, I figured I should do a book review for the second in the series. I have some more creative post ideas for the month, so just stay with me.

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter #2) – J.K. Rowling

So, although I didn’t give it a five out of five stars like I did for the first one, it was still a good book. I don’t know, it just wasn’t as interesting to me as much. Like *SPOILERS* when we found out Ginny was behind letting out the giant snake from the chamber of secrets, I just didn’t find myself caring as much. It just lacked that magical feeling I got from the first one. I think the only reason why I didn’t decide to give this a 3/5 is because the writing is just really good. For middle grade, this is really solid writing, and I love how smooth it is. It isn’t hard to understand, it isn’t so complex where I just can’t follow it. I find myself being able to read like, 100 pages, yet remember everything and I can’t even tell that any time has passed.

Although the writing was excellent, the plot fell short for me and I just wasn’t as interested. I’m reading the third one now, and I’ve heard it’s the best in the series and I am excited. It already has me hooked, and man, am I on a reading kick. I read about 3 (@timtracker) books all in a day on Thursday and I feel so powerful after that, I would love to get through most of the rest of the book tonight and then watch movie #3.

I actually thought that the movie was better than the book. I just felt more interested in the movie, and that doesn’t usually happen. Not that it’s a bad thing, I think I just needed to visualize and see the movie to understand the story more and enjoy it.

How did you guys feel about Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Harry Potter #1) Book Review

Hello everyone, hope your having a happy Sunday so far. I have finished the first Harry Potter book and.. wow. I am very happily surprised with the outcome. I don’t think I have ever been so excited to read and finish a series, other than Caraval of course. So, let’s get on with my first Harry Potter review!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
by J.K. Rowling ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (#1) – J.K. Rowling

Obviously, I gave the first one a 5 stars, if you couldn’t tell by the little introduction I gave. I can’t believe how much I loved it, it was amazing! The writing, the characters, the world you dive into. The whole story is breathtaking. Harry Potter is a great character, but I have to say Hermoine is awesome and one of my favorites.

When I was in like elementary school and middle school and these books were super popular, I never understood, but it’s because I never gave it a chance. I will admit though, if I tried to read this when I was in high school, I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off. It wasn’t my reading preference back then and if it wasn’t for my recent interest in fantasy, I probably still wouldn’t have an interest.

I think one of my favorite parts of the book was when Harry retrieved the rememball for Neville that Draco threw. That whole scene is what got me fully engaged to the story, and everything after that was brilliant and incredible.

I watched the movie last night and wow, am I obsessed. I mean it did a pretty good job pulling the book into a movie and doing it right. Yes some things were left out, but I mean, a movie can’t be 3 hours long, a little over 2 hours is fine with me, the movie got the point across.

What did you guys think of the book that introduced you to the wizarding world of Harry Potter?

February Harry Potter Month + TBR

Hello everyone and Happy Friday! Today is the official first day of Harry Potter Month here on my blog! This is my first time reading Harry Potter, so to keep me motivated and moving along in the series, the whole month is focused on Harry Potter!

I will be posting this month all about Harry Potter, which is going to be filled with Harry Potter book reviews, quizzes, and a GIVEAWAY! Which will be announced sometime this month!

So my TBR this month is pretty clear, it will be all of the Harry Potter books. I know. 28 days to do this sounds insane, but I am determined.

I decided to read the first 7, because I have heard mixed things about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, so we will see. Some people may say it’s not going to be a successful challenge, but I think 7 books in one month is pretty great for me.

Can’t wait to celebrate my blog’s Harry Potter month with you all!
