Book Tag: The Secret Life of a Book Blogger

Hi guys! I found this tag over on Sofii’s blog and really wanted to do it for myself! I loved the questions and I really have a soft spot for these kind of tags. I enjoy sharing some things about myself because book blogging is a serious part of my life now and sharing my experiences with others and my joy for blogging I hope inspires at least one person to either pick up a book or even start a blog! With that being said, let’s get right to the post!

How long have you been blogging?

Right now? 11 months. I started blogging January 1, 2019. I did have another blog that I created in May of 2018, but I decided to create a new platform and new focus. Couldn’t be happier with the switch.

At what point do you think you’ll stop blogging?

Oh god, never? I mean sure I might take breaks here and there… but honestly probably not. I schedule everything out a month ahead, and I’m pretty good about it. I love blogging, it gives me a voice and platform to talk about something that is a really good and healthy habit.

What is the best thing about blogging?

I think for me it’s the fact I have a really healthy hobby that I love. This is such a positive topic to be blogging about and with all the negative things that are currently floating around on the internet, I know there will always be my blog. A happy, light-hearted, bookish place.

What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

The pressure to read can be… difficult. It’s simple for a book blogger… if you don’t read, there’s no review, so there’s no post. There are months where I only read a book or two and I just kind of have to… come up with something lol. So just the pressure to read can be frustrating, but I just accept it for what it is.

How long does it take you to make/find pictures to use?

I’m really trying to dive into the world of Bookstagram, but it’s HARD. Finding props for me is like pulling teeth so taking bookish pictures takes me a long time. Find pictures on the internet? Easy-ish. You’d be surprised how difficult it is to find simple google images of book covers for reviews that are in HD.

Who is your book crush?

This is a tough one. I think if I had to only pick one… Jacks from Caraval. Even if he is the villain haha.

What author would you like to have on your blog?

It’s a tie between Stephanie Garber and Shari Lapena. Definitely would pick Stephanie Garber just for the sake of this post, but Shari is you ever wanna visit Tea and Turned Pages, I’m up for it 🙂

How long does it take you to prepare?

To write a blog post? Probably 20-30 mins? I’m a very quick typer and I just take everything that I’m thinking in my head and just type. Total preparedness time though? Between re-writing the book notes, the review, preparing my book binder after I read a book and filling out all of my book trackers?? Probably anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.

How do you feel about the blogging community?

I love the community! If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be so willing to be apart of it!

What do you think one should do to create a successful blog?

Two word’s guys… BE YOURSELF.

Popular Books I Have No Interest In Reading

I am not ashamed my friends! I am totally not ashamed to write this post!

I know there are some of you out there that hear about hyped up books, I know there are people out there telling you ‘OMG YOU NEED TO READ THIS’ over and over again, and you just DON’T want to. Ladies and Gentleman, that is my life everyday lol. I love it when people recommend me books that they think I will love, and honestly I have learned about some of my favorite authors and favorite books through these recommendations… but I have to admit, there are a few books I see either really hyped up or recommended to me that I just have zero interest in. Let’s get into a list of popular books I have no interest reading and probably never will.

(1) Six of Crows series by Leigh Bardugo

I have literally no interest in this series. They are so hyped to the point I haven’t even read them and they just annoy the crap out of me. It’s great that so many people love it and I’m happy people really love it… but UGH I need to move on from this series and seeing it literally everywhere.

(2) Any Cassandra Clare book

Not that I have a problem with her as a person, it’s just her books don’t apply to the kind of reader I am. I never had an interest in her books, and I know I will not be able to hold my attention long enough to read all of them even if I did like them.

(3) Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer

Yes, I do have the first book on my TBR… but if I ever do get to that first book, I don’t think I’ll ever finish the series. 7th grade me might have really liked this series, but now? Ehh. I think my 21 year old self is past the prime age intended for this series.

(4) Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead

Yeah, no. No interest. Plus this series has mixed reactions anyways so yeah.

(5) Becoming by Michelle Obama

I actually own this book. I got it last Christmas from my parents and I even ASKED for it. So what happened? I read the first 5 pages just to kind of preview it and I just can’t. I’m pretty sure this book would get super interesting for me since I LOVE the Obama’s, but it just hasn’t been of interest to me and I thought at some point this year I would read it and get to it but it just hasn’t happened to me.

(6) Pretty Little Liars series – Sara Shepard

I started this series… but oh my god you’d have to pay me money to finish it. I can’t. There’s 20 books in the series now. Like I think I reached book 10 maybe and just lost interest. The girls grew up, they are just no longer interesting and it just got to the point where the books felt just like a giant money grab.

Well that’s my list. Let me know which books you guys can just NOT get into, and maybe even tell me if you disagree with some on this list. See you next time guys!
